Millie is Two!

Our sweet baby girl Amelia turns two today! She is such a bright spot of sunshine in our family. She has the best crinkly-nose smile and loves to give hugs while saying, "Awwww." She isn't afraid to laugh loudly when she finds something funny. All of her 1st year timidness is gone. She will smile, wave, and even talk to strangers now.

Her sisters adore her and she adores them. When they are at school she constantly asks where they are, "Doss - Ivy? Doss - Ivy?" When she hears a school bus, semi truck, garbage truck, or any truck with a loud engine, her eyes get big and she yells, "Boo bus!!!" (school bus) in hopes that they're coming home. When they laugh at something, she looks at them and laughs right along with them, even if she doesn't know what it's about. She likes jumping on the trampoline with them, playing dress up, and hide and seek.

She loves the thrill of a scare, she jumps and then laughs when someone jumps out and scares her. When she's seeing something scary like a monster, her eyes get big and she smiles. The only scary thing that she definitely not ok with, is bugs or anything that moves and resembles a bug (a leaf, speck of dirt), to which she'll scream bloody murder.

She likes "Ah-mo (Elmo)" and "no-whay (Snowflake Youtube vid)" and asks for those two frequently. She's also recently developed a love for Charlotte's Web. Ask her what she wants for breakfast and its either "Zee-oh (cereal)" or "Moat-meow (oatmeal)." She is NOT a morning person and it's best to leave her alone and not look at her until after she's had her breakfast. If you must talk to her, don't try and be loving, just hurry up with the spoon and go away.

She is talking non-stop and parrots absolutely everything she hears. It's impossible to list all of the words she can say now but some of her most recently learned and commonly used phrases are "Fanny!" when she finds something funny, "Doing?" when she comes into a room and wants to know what you're up to, "Pee-boooo" when her shirt is going over hear head, and "Why?" to absolutely everything you say because she knows it will elicit more talking. She is able to count to eight, or at least say the numbers in sequence from one to eight :), and she'll count while Mom is putting her hair in pigtails. She likes to chase family members around the house with a squirt bottle, squirting them with water and then running away.

She loves to color and likes to think that's she's drawing "Haa-ts" (hearts) and "Nanny Nanes (candy canes." She has to show you every little squiggle, proclaiming it as a haaat or a nanny nane. She can name all of her colors but wouldn't eat a vegetable if she was starving to death. Her favorite foods are bread, rice, cereal, eggs, and pancakes but she has a special love for donuts! Her random answer to many questions is "donuts."
For example, (at the duck pond one day) "Millie, what's that swimming over there?" "DONUTS!" "Millie, what does the horse say?" "DONUTS!"
"Millie, do you want to go down the slide?" "DONUTS!"
"Millie, what's in your diaper?" "DONUTS!"
Not sure about that last one, but she might be right.
